concerns of daughter
Back to School

What a week! Back to the 'normal' routine with a bang! My husband's work kindly let him take Monday morning off to drive our son to his nephrology appointment, an hour's drive away. After waiting an hour and a half past the appointment time, it turns out the normal consultant was too busy to see him and he got the registrar instead so the visit wasn't really that useful. Not only that, but after such a long wait the registrar decided he needed a blood test so there was a further wait and my husband didn't get to work until 3! The blood test itself went OK, but our son's had so many of them now that the sight of "magic cream" sends him into a panic. I wish I could have been there for him.

Why is it that when it is the school holidays the children are awake from the crack of dawn but when it is school time even the first day they mutate into slothful lumps who do not want to wake up? I Nearly cried when I saw my son in his new school uniform - he looked so grown up. He had such a big Cheshire grin on his face telling everyone who would listen that he was going to go to big school. We did have a panic the afternoon before though after realising that his trousers were too long resulting in an emergency dash to buy some wonderweb! He left his teddy at home for the first time as before he had taken it in his bag and I felt quite emotional seeing it mid afternoon all by itself.

Our daughter also had a big day as she started her new nursery school place. I was so proud of her as she has been through a lot of changes and always adapts so well. She had a great time and when I picked her up she did not want to leave. Managed to loose her glasses in the ball pool though - got a phone call today to say that they had found them! I bet that there are not many parents who had to make a 100 mile round trip to take their child to school.
