Brainwave Update
on 06 Dec 2007
Have been doing Brainwave now for the last two months, and I can honestly say that we have seen an improvement in both of our children. Elise, is so much more confident in her walking especially up and down steps and also, she is now able to stand on one leg for a couple of seconds which is fab. Michael I think has made the most progress. He can now cross his mid line which he did not have a clue about when we first started. He is also now keen to sit up at a table and do a table top task, which can range from building a tower to colouring in. He has also learnt how to do simple join the dots which we are very proud of.
Sometimes it can be a bit of a bind trying to fit it in every day and also the children are sometimes reluctant, especially near the end of the week when they are tired. Once we get going though, they really enjoy it as all the exercises are quite good fun. Initially, Michael’s programme required both of us whilst Elise’s could be given by just one, but we found that days are just too short to fit them both in if we did them at different times and it was difficult keeping the other one occupied for half an hour. Now, John tends to do Michael and I do Elise which seems to work well. A great motivating factor for Michael if he starts to become disinterested is that his sister will beat him to the end and we have even resorted to delaying Elise’s programme if she starts to catch up! Both of them, especially Elise, seem to enjoy it and from our point of view, we find it rewarding, knowing that we are helping our children in this way.
