Home Care

What is it?

Home care is a service provided by Community Support Services designed to provide personal care and support to people within their own home. The sort of services offered include help with domestic chores, dressing, bathing, meals, shopping and mobility. The work is done by Community Support Workers who are fully trained. The Home Care service operates 365 days a year from 7.00am until 10.00pm and provides regular help according to individual needs, ranging from one visit a week to several short visits each day. Some areas make a charge for this service so check with your authority.

Who is entitled to Home Care?

You may be entitled to Home Care if :
  • You need help to be independent because you find personal tasks difficult
  • You are disabled so find tasks difficult
  • You look after someone who is disabled or old who is not independent
  • You are at risk if you do not get help
  • You are a family who temporarily are finding things difficult

How do you apply for Home Care?

Contact your doctor or Health Visitor.
